ANTIOCH (CBS SF) — One person died and another is in critical condition following a shooting Tuesday morning in Antioch, police said. The shooting occurred at about 9:50 a.m. in the 300 block of Lawton Street. Someone called police before the shooting to say that three men were arguing, according to police. One caller said a man had a gun and was pointing it at one of the other men. Several people then called police to say that shots were being fired. Witnesses said one person was on the ground and another person ran from the area, police said. The suspect, who was armed with a pistol, stayed at the scene. Several officers responded and detained the suspect, who complied with officers’ commands. After detaining the suspect, officers tended to the victim who was on the ground until paramedics arrived. Paramedics treated the victim, however, they died at the scene, according to police. The victim who ran away went to a convenience store where police got in touch with him. Police said he had a bullet wound in his upper body. That victim was taken to a hospital, where he is in stable but critical condition Tuesday evening. Police said they believe they have detained, accounted for or been in touch with everyone involved with the shooting. Additionally, the gun used in the shooting was recovered, according to police. A man in his 30s was shot inside an apartment complex in the Mississauga Valley Boulevard and Central Parkway East area Tuesday evening.
CHICAGO (CBS) — A suspect is in custody after two people were shot Tuesday afternoon in south suburban Alsip. Officers responded to a call of shots fired at 1:09 p.m. at Ray’s Towing and Recovery Service, 4340 W. 127th St., according to Alsip police. When the officers arrived, someone told them two people were shot inside the business and the shooter had fled, police said. The officers secured the area and broadcast a description of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle. The two victims were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Their ages, genders and conditions were not immediately released. Oak Lawn police officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle at 107th Street and Pulaski Road. They tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop and a brief chase ensued, police said. The suspect then got out of the vehicle and ran away at 95th and Central Park, police said. The suspect was arrested after a short foot chase. The Cook County Major Crimes Task Force is assisting Alsip police with the investigation. CHICAGO (CBS) — A Dixon man under investigation for child sex abuse shot and killed his 5-year-old son Monday afternoon, before turning the gun on himself, police said. Police said 33-year-old Robert Michaels had been barred from being alone with with his 5-year-old son, Christopher, because he was under investigation for the alleged sexual abuse of another child. Christopher’s mother brought their son to his father’s home on Monday, and she told police father and son went upstairs, and locked her out of the room. She then heard two gunshots, and left the house to get her phone and call 911. Dixon Police Chief Danny Langloss said both Christopher and his father suffered gunshot wounds to the head. “Our hearts truly go out to the family members who have suffered this horrific tragedy. Our officers feel your pain,” Langloss said. The chief said it was a horrific scene for officers who responded to the shooting. Those officers have been placed on short-term leave to deal with what they witnessed. “There’s nothing worse for our officers [than] to come into a situation like this, and see such a horrific senseless scene,” Langloss said.
CHICAGO (CBS) — A man has been charged with fatally shooting another man multiple times in the head during an argument Saturday evening in the Far South Side Jeffery Manor neighborhood. Delton Bates, 42, was charged with first-degree murder for the shooting in a driveway in the 9700 block of South Merrion, according to Chicago Police. He and Darrius Buckley, 33, were arguing in the driveway at 8:47 p.m. when Bates allegedly took out a gun and shot him multiple times in the head, police the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Buckley, who lived nearby, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Bates was arrested in the driveway about 10 minutes after the shooting, police said. CHICAGO (CBS) — A pregnant woman was shot in hip early Sunday in the Park Manor neighborhood, just days before her due date. A family was celebrating a birthday on the front porch of a home near 72nd and St. Lawrence around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, when someone in a white sedan pulled up and opened fire. Denard Sanders heard the gunfire from his home across the street, so he ran to the window to see what was going on. “It was scary. It was very scary,” he said. “I was trembling and shaking. I hurt my foot really bad; like, it was bleeding really bad, because I was trying to jump to the floor so fast, because it was so close to me.” A 24-year-old woman who was on the porch was shot in the hip. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where her condition was stabilized. Her family confirmed the woman is nine months pregnant. “I heard someone like, ‘Call the police. She needs help. She needs help,’” Sanders said. “I actually came out and sat until she got in the ambulance.” Neighbors said they plan on being more cautious after Sunday’s shooting. “You can’t sit on your front porch, or either in your back yard, or even have the kids outside playing, because you’re scared something is going to happen to them,” Sanders said. No one was in custody Monday morning. Area Central detectives were investigating.
CHICAGO (CBS) — Three people were being questioned late Sunday after an exchange of gunfire with Chicago Police officers in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side. Officers responded at 11:07 p.m. to a call of shots fired in the 4700 block of North Hamlin, according to Chicago Police. When they arrived, the officers noticed a group of several males fighting, and gunfire was exchanged. No injuries were reported, police said. Police say a driver who was attempting to evade arrest turned out to be the man allegedly involved in a shooting that occurred in Saskatoon.
(CBS) — Four people have been fatally shot in Chicago’s Brighton Park neighborhood. Police say they responded to reports of shots fired around 8:30 p.m. at 47th and South Fairfield and found the victims inside a vehicle. The victims — three males and one female — were pronounced dead at the scene, Chicago police say. Police scanner communication indicated shell casings from an assault rifle were found at the scene. Authorities say they were looking for a white SUV in connection with the killings.

CHICAGO (CBS) — A 38-year-old man was shot early Friday near the Parkway Gardens housing complex on the South Side. The shooting happened about 3:45 a.m. in the 6400 block of South King Drive, according to Chicago Police. The man was being uncooperative with police, and details on the circumstances of the shooting were unknown.
