A home in the community of Lake Bonavista suffered damage in a garage fire on Thursday.
COLFAX (CBS13) — Placer County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Tuesday morning for allegedly breaking into a home and starting a fire off of Plutes Way in Colfax.
A woman heard the suspect break a window and enter the home, so she ran out the front door. When deputies arrived, they heard the smoke alarm go off and apprehended the suspect in the back of the house.
Deputies were able to put out the fire as smoke started coming out of the home.
Jose Juan Rocha III, 25, was charged with arson of an inhabited structure, burglary, and vandalism. His bail is set at $245,000.
No one was injured in the incident.
Fire destroyed a home on County Road 24 in Roseneath.
Two children were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in their southeast Calgary duplex on Tuesday.
HAYWARD (CBS SF) — Three people and a dog safely escaped a one-alarm house fire late Friday in San Lorenzo, Alameda County Fire Department officials said.
The blaze was reported at 11:32 p.m. in the living room of a one-story home in the 600 block of Drew Street, Alameda County fire spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.
The fire was quickly contained by crews. The cause was accidental, Knowles said.
Three adults and a dog were able to get out of the home before firefighters arrived and are temporarily displaced, Knowles said.

Fire crews called to home just after 12 a.m. on Friday.
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — A fire swept through a home in San Francisco Monday reaching a second alarm, fire officials said.
San Francisco Fire Department dispatch said the fire was burning at a house on the 400 block of Melrose Ave. just south of Mount Davidson.
Smoke was visible from blocks away and people were being urged to avoid the area.
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4)– A toddler was killed in a house fire in Grand Junction over the weekend. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office was called to the home just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
The garage of the home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived to the home on Hill Avenue.
“My wife said, ‘There is something wrong,’ I see some big light, we both looked out and even then almost instantly that whole end of the garage was one big ball of fire we knew things were not good and things had gone quick,” said neighbor Calvin Sheppard.
Some adults had already escaped the burning home when neighbors rescued another adult from inside. The toddler was found in the home, unresponsive.
What caused the house fire is being evacuated.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw flames coming from the garage and found two residents who needed medical help.
