Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds on Las Vegas After Tragedy: ‘I Know We’ll Bounce Back’

Adversity brings out the pride in a city’s residents, and in the wake of the horrific shootings at the Route 91 festival Sunday night, Las Vegas natives Imagine Dragons are no exception. “Even though Vegas is seen as this tourist destination, there’s a real sense of community there, and pride,” frontman Dan Reynolds told Variety on […]

Imagine Dragons Jam with Kids at Arizona Children’s Hospital

By Scott T. Sterling Before Imagine Dragons launched their current Evolve Word Tour this week, the band spent some time bringing joy to kids at the Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. Related: Imagine Dragons Share the Superpowers They Wish They Had
According to 12 News, Imagine Dragons visited the children’s hospital on Sept. 26 for a jam session with the young patients in the center’s new music-therapy room, called Sophie’s Place. Sophie’s Place was built by NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young and his wife Barb through their Forever Young Foundation. The group fielded questions from the kids, sharing musical advice and drum techniques during the lighthearted session. The band met with the children just hours before taking the stage at Talking Stick Resort Arena later on that evening. “Doing stuff like this is heartwarming,” Imagine Dragons’ drummer Daniel Platzman said. “We have a very self-indulgent career, and to do something that’s not focused on ourselves is really great.” “I felt very overwhelmed the whole time,” gushed Kaylee Moreno, 13, a patient for three years at the facility. “I didn’t know what to think. I’m still in shock right now.” See video clips from the band’s visit below.

Imagine Dragons Share the Superpowers They Wish They Had

By Scott T. Sterling Everybody’s thought about it: the ultimate superpower. The ability to fly, to leap over buildings in a single bound, pick up a truck and hurl it through the air. Related: Imagine Dragons’ ‘Thunder’ Remixed by K. Flay Just like the rest of us, Dan Reynolds and Daniel Wayne of Imagine Dragons have pondered what it would be like to be a superhero. Unlike most of us, however, their thoughts on the ultimate superpower have been captured on video and shared with the world. “The two Dans,” as they’re known, ponder the potential of their preferred super-powers in a pretty funny clip that you should watch below. Singer Reynolds wants his abilities to be mental, while guitarist Wayne leans towards the ultimate control over the world around him. The pair also discuss the various pitfalls of each other’s super-power pick and what it would take to defeat it.

Designed to celebrate LGBTQ people and culture in the heavily Mormon state, the inaugural edition of LoveLoud will feature Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees, Krewella, Nicholas Petricca of Walk The Moon, Joshua James and Reynold’s wife, Aja Volkman.

“More than the event itself is the conversation about it, “Reynolds (who was raised in a Mormon household) said to Vanity Fair. “Parents and kids sitting around the dinner table and the kids say, ‘Hey, mom, I want to go to this festival.’ And the parents say, ‘Hey, let’s talk about what that is and what that means.'”

“It felt like a lot of unnecessary guilt looking back on it,” Reynolds said regarding his past experience with the church. “That already opened up my heart to people who are feeling guilty [because] of religion. To times that by a million is to be an L.G.B.T.Q. child in a home who’s told that their most basic instinct or sense of being is wrong or flawed or sinful.”

“I would hope that people realize that it’s not an attack on an organization,” he stressed. “It is an invitation for our community to come together and listen to our L.G.B.T.Q. youth who are often not heard, whose voices, for whatever reason, especially in an orthodox community, go unheard.”
